We had a fun time with just the three of us. Ashlyn didn't really know what was going on, she just kept watching and smiling at me putting up balloons and streamers (courtesy of the dollar store :). It was a lot of effort for a short lived "party", but we had a good time. 
I didn't exercise any creativity on the cake.......maybe next year. 
She wasn't quite sure what to do at first, but it didn't take long for her to realize the incredible goodness of chocolate.

Yes, we got her cars. Not very girly, but she loves them so far. Who needs gender-specific stuff at this age? Thank you to Grandmas & Grandpas and Uncles & Aunts for the sweet presents and cards!
Overall, not a bad day in the life of a 1 year old!

Looks like you enjoyed yourselves. Wish we could make it down before this baby comes but not going to happen. Jared is even going to Tucson the week of the 16th (March).
On a side note, you will soon find out that you will want to keep all toilet seats closed!!! Not that they don't love to play in them but they could potentially fall in and drowned. (Don't mean to sound bossy or whatever you may call it but just a heads up)

Happy Birthday to Ashlynn. Hard to believe that she is already 1 year old. Camille and I didn't realize her birthday was Feb 4th. Linley's is the 6th of Feb. We want to come out for a visit later this fall. It was fun catching up with you. We miss you guys! Darren & Camille.
