I've learned to clean up the mess before she gets out of the high chair, otherwise she'll purposely drop it and eat off the floor - who needs plates & trays? Here she's enjoying some fruity cheerios - yumm.
So I decided to sign up for FaceBook last week to see what all the hype is about. Of course in the days following it was plastered all over the news about "facebook addictions" and what a serious epidemic it is becoming. It made me laugh.
The jury is still out. What I don't like is how I feel that everyone can see what I'm doing all the time - or that if you just write on a wall, everyone can read your conversation. I feel a serious lack of privacy & it's weird to get used to. It is fun to be able to catch up with all kinds of people that I've lost touch with. At the same time, I feel like it is just a popularity contest and people are trying to see how many so called "friends" they can add to their list. If there are people that I wasn't friends with some 15 years ago & can never remember having a single conversation with, why would I consider them "friends" now? Just because they recognize a name ... it makes me feel very conflicted. I feel rude if I ignore the friend request. On the other hand, it is kind of nice and flattering that so many people are interested and want to see where my life has ended up. If they're like me though, they're clicking just to see what city I currently reside in and a recent photo. If it's not anyone I'm currently keeping in touch with through blogging, email, phone, or related to, I'm really not going to care what someone is doing all the time.
Am I being completely rude? I'll quit rambling - I just had to get that out. Even though I'm not sure I really like it, there is something very intriguing and addicting about the whole online FaceBook world.
Okay, moving on...... We had a RS Enrichment activity at my house last night. We were going to do a "Speed Friendship" activity - which would be like speed dating as a way for the sisters to get to know each other. There only turned out to be 12 people, so we changed it up last minute and had a "Hot Seat" where we all asked that person questions. It was so much fun. We laughed a lot and it ended up going on for 2 hours.
My sweet little baby has suddenly turned into an incredibly hands-on toddler. How in the world did that happen??? She went from this a few weeks ago:
to this now: (don't mind her pants being undone - at least she has them on...she usually escapes before I can get that far!)

Ashlyn's great at re-arranging the kitchen furniture! I find chairs blocking the sink, fridge, pantry, and lined up against the wall.
We think she actually said her first real word tonight!!!- of course I'm thrilled because she was sitting facing me on my lap and very clearly said "Mom". Yay!!! She often says "mamamama" without meaning, but she said it once and to my face this time. I asked her to say it again, and she did! Derek wasn't as thrilled 'cause he was hoping she'd say "Dad" first. We'll keep working on that :)
My last excitement for the week is our new appliance. I've really been getting into food storage & we're working hard at being prepared. With money from our tax return we splurged on a new freezer. When did I grow old enough to get so much enjoyment from something like this??? I'm so excited!
Have a Great Day!

Crazy that she is walking already. Enjoy the chases now!!
When we got our new freezer I was so excited. I kept it stocked all the time with yummy freezer meals that I would make. Now, it still has food in it (Jared's lunch meals, an occasional freezer meal, shredded cheese, bread, and a couple of other things) but just not as much as I would like. I am working on that though. I have the other (dry) pantry stocked though and can't wait until March when they do the case lot sales.
I am going to agree with your facebook rant! I didn't like that everyone could see what I was doing all the time, it creeped me out a little bit. So I got the important peoples' email addresses and deleted my account!
Ashlyn is so adorable, I love that she's being such a good little interior decorator for you! Or something like that... Haha.
I agree with your thoughts about facebook. Do these people who are talking to me on facebook really even care? I agree that it is a popularity contest. I have enjoyed seeing where people are now, but do I really care either? I am still trying to figure it out! I also wonder when I became old to get excited about a freezer! Where does time fly?
Life really changes when they start walking. It goes straight from walking to running.
