Catchin' Up On Us

I've been slacking again on my updates & other than our trip to Oahu, I completely missed posting info for April and May. It's now June & I'd better catch up before I forget what's even happened. So, here goes....
In April my mom, brother, sister, & nieces came down for Easter weekend. I love having family come here. We actually get to spend real time hangin' out and making memories. When we go home to visit, it's always such a rush to try to see everyone in such a short time that it's never as enjoyable as I'd like. (Hint, hint....open invite for anyone that wants to come down!)
They got here late Thursday afternoon. On Friday we had to make sure the girls were well equipped for the AZ sun. We decorated visors & put on sunglasses. This decorating was my attempt to keep them entertained....it worked well for about 10 minutes & they were done.

Then it was off to Goldfield....yes, again. Derek wasn't so thrilled to be there for the 3rd time in a matter of a couple months, but he was a good sport & uncle. His incentive for going was that we all went to the Texas Roadhouse after (one of his favorite restaurants) .

Taylor & Brentlee had to keep taking turns pushing Ashlyn in the stroller, Ash just wanted to get out & run around..... or more likely play in the dirt.Grandma Vonnie & the Farnsworth Cuties stop for a pose by the cactus. We made Uncle Morgan go up to the Bordello & get his picture taken with the self titled "Floozy". It was the second story of a building & had an outside stairway. The girls were later looking at it from a distance & said "Look, I can see where the Princess is in the Castle!" Mmmm...that's good eatin'

On Saturday we went to the pool at the Y while Grandma stayed at the house to watch the youngest two girls (Ashlyn & Jazlyn) during their naps.By that point, Taylor had warmed up to Uncle Derek a bit more & the two of them were having a great time playing in the pool - though this picture doesn't quite capture that. The men catching some Z's. After dealing with a house full of estrogen, I don't blame them!Saturday night we colored at least 4 dozen Easter eggs & that was a messy, good time.

Sunday morning the kids woke up to find that the Easter Bunny had made it to our house. He brought each of the girls a sand pale filled with goodies. They had fun finding the hidden eggs all over the yard. Now that's over, what can we do the rest of the day?....

Eat all the candy from the baskets..... yum...Play with Grandma's Make-Up....pretty...And in true family tradition, we found a hill to roll the eggs down. Normally this egg rolling would end in a big egg food fight, but we didn't teach the girls that part yet. It's been 2 months now & Ashlyn still has to slide down the hill on her bum like she learned that day - thanks a lot, Mom!

This was one of the few moments that these two were actually getting along.
Too close in age = competition over everything!

We sure had a good time and miss everyone terribly!

Since we were in Hawaii on Derek's Birthday, Ashlyn & I threw him a little party at home before we left.
She gave Daddy the present from her.....
then helped him blow out the candles on his cupcake cake (after which she quickly snuck a piece when we weren't looking).

Then we had our fabulous week on vacation.

We went to the Brooks & Dunn Last Rodeo concert on May 21 with our friends Gregg & Donna. We didn't want to miss the last concert tour of them together (sniff, sniff) so we'd had tickets for a few months. It was a fun night - Jason Aldean opened & I gotta say that I'm a much bigger fan of his now. The venue was outdoors & thankfully the weather hadn't heated up to scorching yet.

You'll be Missed, boys!

On May 26 we went to the Star Wars In Concert symphony that Derek got tickets to for his birthday. Thanks, Becky, for watching Ashlyn! We had to go to Tucson & it was a long night. I fell asleep for a moment & have had enough Star Wars to last me a few years, but as long as Derek had fun it was all worth it!

Think that gets us caught up to date for now!

Whoa! Are you exhausted after all that? :o) You guys sure have been busy, but making memories is the best kind of busy to be!
