We Survived!

Our first Arizona summer has passed and now get ready 'cause here comes the Holiday Season.....YAY!!! Yes, I know we're a little early. Derek and I both love Christmas so much that our tradition is to start listening to Christmas music right after General Conference weekend. Feel free to turn it off if it drives you nuts :)

Things have been a little crazy around here and I'm just now finding the time to catch up on my blogging and check in on everyone. Even if I'm not leaving many comments, I hope you know how much I enjoy reading each of your blogs and being able to see what's going on in your lives. And those of you reading this that don't have a blog - you should definitely start one! It's such a great way to "journal" or "scrapbook" and just keep in touch.

So Conference was awesome! I love listening to the talks and the way that certain things stand out & touch you just as you need to hear them. My aunt Mitizi came down from Provo to visit for the weekend. We didn't do a whole lot, but it was so much fun to hang out and catch up.

We let Ashlyn play in whipped cream - she sure doesn't seem to have any sensory issues!
Derek took Ashlyn & I to Show Low, AZ while he worked for a few days. We had alot of fun and definitely enjoyed the pool and hot tub at the hotel.

We got the truck all packed & ready to come home last Friday when the engine wouldn't start. We spent a long day without a car at one of the carpet stores waiting to hear the news. After a tow truck, a weekend rental car, and another trip back up there, we were excited and blessed to find out that it was just a connection & a $5 part rather than the expensive fuel pump we were expecting to replace. For all that time spent travelling, Ashlyn was such a trooper.

Monday was the year anniversary of moving into our home. Since I promised to show some of you photos a year ago, here they finally are.... I don't have a picture of the kitchen & the dishes aren't done so that will have to wait. When we get the master bedroom finished (in the next few years) & the spare rooms, then I'll post some of those. So I guess you can see the parts that are decorated for now:

Once she decided to move, Ashlyn's really taken off. When we were in UT in August she still wasn't rolling over. Now she is crawling all around the house and just this last week figured out how to pull herself to standing. Now she's finally figuring out how to get back down without falling. She threw her first temper tantrum the other night and we're hoping to put a stop to that a.s.a.p. I'm really missing the times of being able to sit through an entire lesson in church. Today she decided that Sunday School was the appropriate place to exercise her vocal chords at full volume. She wasn't throwing a fit, just "talking" and "yelling" for the fun of it. Derek & I took turns spending the morning in the hallway with the rest of the parents of wayward children. The countdown to nursery begins!

Sounds like you've sure been busy! Ashlyn is adorable. I don't think any parent of little ones gets through the entire block of church meetings for a few years. :o)

Wow, a lot sure has happened since you last posted and it is all fantastic news. Can't wait to see you all for Christmas, and I must say, way to early to start listening to Christmas music. We don't start until after Thanksgiving!

Love the house and the decorating. I had such big ideas when we moved and then I ran out of energy the big joke is if I will ever finish... probably not. But your house looks great. and Ashlyn is growing so fast once they start walking I feel like they grow up way to fast. Shirlyn
