Organized Chaos

That's what I've decided my life is....Organized Chaos. I have all good intentions of being so put together, remembering everyone's birthdays, always having the beds made, the house clean, the laundry folded & put away, and even finally getting those last boxes out of the garage and unpacked. I thought that by not working and being able to stay at home that those things would just come easily.

I'm quickly learning that with a baby nothing is a given. Take now for instance... I finally sit down to update a new blog and Ashlyn decides to wake up and need attention. We're compromising. I'm feeding her with one hand and slowly typing with the other.

My latest attempt at getting organized (although I've talked about it for 2 years) is to finally schedule out our dinners a month at a time. I'm tired of Derek and I having the same 10 minute conversation every day trying to decide what to have for dinner that night. I've really been into clipping coupons lately and my hope is that the coupons along with a planned dinner list will really help with our budget. That way I won't keep buying convenience foods, we'll be eating better, and I won't have to run to the store for last minute things (translation - we eat better & eat out less!) I know this is not a new concept for most of you, but I'm really having to teach myself how to be more prepared.

We had a great trip to Utah last week. Ashlyn was good on the plane and she was finally able to meet most the rest of her grandparents, aunts, uncles, & cousins. Sorry we missed you by a week Jen, Rob, & kids! I wish we could have spent more time visiting everyone. My sister is doing well under the circumstances. She's keeping an incredibley possitive and inspiring attitude. It was really nice to be there (with the exception of the snow) and it was also nice to get home.

Our house is slowly coming together the way we would like. All of the walls were stark white to begin with, so it's been kind of fun to have a blank canvas to work with. With the exception of the office, I think we are finished with the bottom floor. The bedrooms and loft upstairs still need work.

Of course the baby's room was the first room we had completed and we just got done with the half-bath downstairs.
I think my cozy master room is a ways off, but we'll get it done someday. One step to true organization at a time!

I love it. Trust me once you get the hang of things (baby and what not) then things will get easier. Then #2 comes along and you are starting again from scratch but that's okay, it really does get easier.

the meal thing, don't worry I am still trying to find the best way to perfect that. Read an article today at Grandma's about 101 ways to save your grocery dollars. Great article and really got me thinking about ways to cut the pennies in half. Also am going to try and start following the grocery guru...(Rosie's dad, Derek's friend). I need to be better about clipping coupons but then again I guess I need a newspaper first. Keep us posted on how the dinners go. Check my blog for something along these lines soon.

Sorry this is so long. We had a fun this last weekend, and wish that you all lived closer. Perhaps soon we can come and visit.

I know exactly what you are talking about, I feel like the harder I try to be organized the more unorganized I feel. But I love what you have done with your house I should be calling you for ideas
Shirlyn.
P.s. Ashlyn is a doll
