'Tis the Season

This time of year is so exciting, though I sometimes wish I could still go back and experience that magical feeling that comes with being a child at Christmas. It just doesn't feel the same as we get older. I hear it gets more exciting again as you have kids that are into it all, so I'm looking forward to that.

Every year I attempt to be all prepared so that I don't get caught up in the last minute rush of things. I'd like to spend more time being able to enjoy the holiday spirit and focusing on our Savoir as the reason for the season. Of course, as it comes down to it, there is always things to get done and my list doesn't get any shorter. I've been working on a few new paintings, so I guess that's not so bad. The inside of the house has been decorated since the first week or two in November, but the outside is as boring as always. Maybe next year...

Our stake put on a Live Nativity this past weekend. It was the first of an annual event. I'm really excited for the potential it has since there is nothing like that in our area. Although the promise of live camels didn't pan out (which is the reason I was able to drag Derek there), it was still a fun event and I really appreciate all the work and talent that went into it. Unfortunately, the spotlight went out while we were there, so we had to use our imaginations to visualize alot of it. Here are a couple pics:

Derek's Blazer is finally on it's last stretch. After having it in the shop several times, we finally gave in and went car shopping on Saturday. Not expecting to, we drove home our new (used) 2007 Chevy Equinox that night. We still have the Blazer till Sat. and Derek is getting all the use out of it he can. We've both been so nervous with a new one that it has sat in the garage since we got it home. Maybe we can just take a drive tonight to break it in. He will be using it for work and I have to admit that I'm a little jealous. We'll have to keep the elantra running for a few more years - no reason to get rid of a good car that still runs well. I'll just have to sneak in some excuses to take the new one out every once in a while.

That Nativity sounds like a lot of fun. I don't think anything beats hearing the story of our Savior's birth to bring the true Spirit of Christmas to us. Enjoy the new vehicle! You'll have to switch keys with Derek once in awhile to drive the new wheels. :o)

Congrats on the new car! It is pretty. Ashlyn looks so grown up in her little dress. I'm glad that you are painting. Tonya

Wow a new car. I must say I am a little jealous but then again I wouldn't want another car payment right now. Hopefully this car will last a looooong time. Can't wait to see you all. When do you actually stay in Salt Lake? If you would like you are always welcome to stay up at our house where it won't be as crowded but don't feel obligated to.

Hey, neighbor! I'm glad you found my blog! So, that's why there's a new car at your house....NICE!!! LOL! (I think we need to talk more, hahaha)
I LOVE your artwork. The one with the little kids is my fave!
I LOVE the pic of you and Ashlyn at the nativity.
I can't believ she is almost walking! I haven't seen Nichole's baby in a LONG time, I don't think I have ever seen her walk! Wow, what a lousy nighbor I am!
Do you have any special plans for Christmas?
We should start some kind of tradition if you guys are planning on living across the street from us for a while! That would be really fun.
Ok, I didn't mean to write you a page full! I should just get up and walk over, HAHAHA
